- Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a fresh start for Queensland.
The Crisafulli Government is restoring Queensland’s global reputation and delivering new trade opportunities through strategic partnerships with major international players, helping to reverse Labor’s decade of decline.
A landmark deal signed in Shanghai today between the Crisafulli Government and JD.com, one of China’s largest online retailers, is set to open new eCommerce pathways for Queensland exporters to reach hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Trade and Investment Queensland and JD.com, marking a major step forward in Queensland’s trade and investment relationship with China.
The agreement is a direct outcome of the Crisafulli Government's Queensland-China Trade and Investment Strategy 2025, which is focused on driving commercial outcomes, growing export capabilities, and attracting foreign investment, to help deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.
As part of the deal, JD.com will place orders with 23 Queensland companies currently in Shanghai for the China International Import Expo.
The MoU builds on JD.com’s $240 million acquisition of a major logistics hub at Wacol in Brisbane earlier this year, further cementing the company’s footprint in Queensland.
Minister Bates said the agreement reflected Queensland’s growing reputation as a trusted supplier of premium goods and services.
”After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government’s work to restore Queensland’s reputation on the world stage is starting to pay dividends,” Minister Bates said.
“JD.com is a global eCommerce powerhouse, and this agreement shows they now see Queensland as a reliable, high-quality partner ready to do business.
“This is a game-changer for our regional and emerging exporters, giving them direct access to the world’s largest eCommerce market.
“For too long, Queensland exporters were held back by the former Labor Government’s lack of strategic engagement and missed opportunities in global markets.
“Under the Crisafulli Government , Queensland is open for businesses, and this MoU is a clear demonstration the world is paying attention.”
