New appointments for Queensland water businesses

  • New board appointments announced for bulk water suppliers Sunwater and Seqwater.
  • Ensuring strategic direction for the delivery of bulk water supply across Queensland. 
  • Strengthening accountability and leadership for government’s commercial businesses. 

The Crisafulli Government has announced new board appointments for Sunwater and Seqwater, delivering new leadership for Queensland’s bulk water supply.   

New appointments include: 

  • Sunwater: Jeff Seeney (chair)
  • Sunwater: John Cotter (director)
  • Sunwater: John Davis (director)
  • Sunwater: Katy Steele (director)
  • Sunwater: Dr Kayleen Walsh (director)
  • Seqwater: John McEvoy (Existing member appointed as Chair)
  • Seqwater: Amanda Cooper (member)
  • Seqwater: Mark Girard (member)
  • Seqwater: Amanda Kenafake (member) 
  • Seqwater: Antonia Mercorella (member)
  • Seqwater: Pauline Thomson (member)  

Sunwater manages most of the remaining State's bulk water infrastructure, while Seqwater primarily manages water infrastructure and long-term supply planning in South East Queensland.  

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates congratulated the new appointees, whilst acknowledging outgoing members.   

“I sincerely thank all outgoing board members for their service and look forward to working with new appointees in the years ahead,” Minister Bates said.  

“The expertise of the new appointees to both boards will help deliver better outcomes for all Queenslanders, irrespective of where they live.” 

Treasurer David Janetzki also welcomed the new appointees.  

“These appointments today will bring strong voices and experienced leadership to guide the direction of the organisations going forward,” Mr Janetzki said

Minister for Local Government and Water Ann Leahy welcomed new board members and confirmed the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to improving water security across the State.  

“These board members take on a great responsibility, ensuring the strategic management of two of Queensland’s most vital businesses,” Minister Leahy said. 

“Unlocking our water supply is the key to delivering economic opportunity to our rural and regional communities.  

“With the assistance of Sunwater and Seqwater we will deliver new weirs, water infrastructure and cost relief for irrigators, to ensure every drop of water will be put to good use growing our local economies.”
