90-bed health facility at Ripley reaches practical completion

  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering easier access to health services to meet the growing healthcare demands of Ipswich.
  • The new 90-bed facility in Ripley has reached practical completion.
  • The new facility will provide rehabilitation, geriatric, palliative, and interim care, as part of the $18.5 billion Hospital Rescue Plan.

After a decade of Labor inaction in the West Moreton region, the Crisafulli Government is delivering easier access to health services with construction reaching practical completion on the $129.9 million 90-bed Ripley Satellite Health Centre Sub-Acute Expansion facility.

The expansion is part of the Crisafulli Government’s fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan and will deliver a three-storey, 90 overnight-bed facility to provide patient care to the local community. It will include clinical services for rehabilitation, geriatric care, palliative care and interim care, as well as a landscaped therapy garden.

The facility will play an important role in healing Labor’s Health Crisis and will take some of the pressure off Ipswich Hospital’s busy emergency department and reduce ambulance ramping.

Co-located with the Ripley Satellite Health Centre, the combined campus will be called Ripley Health Services.

It will provide world-class healthcare for the local community right on their doorstep, as part of the Crisafulli Government’s Easier Access to Health Services Plan.

The Crisafulli Government invested $146 million in new funding in the 2025-26 Budget to address Labor’s underfunded Accelerated Infrastructure Delivery Program, including for the Ripely Sub-Acute Expansion project.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said the facility would deliver more hospital beds and services for one of Queensland’s fastest-growing areas.

“Labor put its head in the sand and failed to plan for Ipswich’s rapidly growing population, leaving our health services there overstretched,” Minister Nicholls said.

“As we remain committed to providing easier access to health services, the Ripley facility will not only give locals more healthcare options closer to home, but will also help free up capacity at other nearby hospitals, including Ipswich and Boonah.”

Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause said Ripley Health Services would be beneficial for the entire region.

“The Crisafulli Government is dedicated to delivering health services when you need them,” Mr Krause said.

“Through our Hospital Rescue Plan, the Crisafulli Government has funded this expansion to make sure we meet the needs of our community, now and into the future.”

West Moreton Health Chief Executive, Hannah Bloch, said the new facility would help meet the growing healthcare demands of the region.

“We are looking forward to opening the doors to this facility which will provide patients with closer care when they need it,” Ms Bloch said.

“The West Moreton region has unique healthcare challenges, and this new facility will play a vital role in the community.

“With a range of clinical services available on-site, local patients will benefit greatly and can be assured they are in safe hands.”
