Crisafulli Government backs frontline firies with better resources

  • Crisafulli Government delivering more than $134 million for modernised facilities, vehicles, and equipment for Queensland Fire Department.
  • $15.7 million to support access for paid and volunteer firefighters to workers’ compensation.
  • Increase in funding reverses decade of Labor neglect for frontline firies. 

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start for Queensland firies with a major funding boost to ensure frontline workers have the resources they need to keep Queenslanders safe. 

The Crisafulli Government will deliver more than $74 million to pay for new or replacement fire stations and land acquisitions, and more the $50 million for new or replacement vehicles in 2025-26. 

The funding boost will see new and replacement Queensland Fire and Rescue stations delivered in Beerwah, Greater Springfield, Gympie South, Caloundra and Boonah, as well as new Rural Fire Service Queensland stations at Abbot Point, Bell Town, and Mount Ossa.  

Queensland Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service Queensland firefighters will also be equipped with new trucks to enhance operational capability and response.  

The Crisafulli Government will deliver: 

  • More than $37 million for new and upgraded Fire and Rescue stations across Queensland.
  • $25.7 million for new and replacement urban fire appliances.
  • $23.7 million for new and upgraded Rural Fire Service trucks and $13million for RFS stations.
  • 123 appliances for Queensland Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service Queensland vehicles. 

Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said the Crisafulli Government’s commitments were a clear demonstration of support for the hard-working men and women who protected Queensland communities every day.  

“The Crisafulli Government is committed to restoring essential services and repairing the damage left by Labor’s decade of mismanagement,” Minister Leahy said. 

“For too long, Labor neglected the people who protect us, but the Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland’s frontline heroes with real funding, new resources, and a newfound respect.” 

“Under Labor, Queensland’s fires were being forced to work in outdated stations with ageing equipment, but the Crisafulli Government will always put our hardworking firefighters and their communities first.”
