Crisafulli Government delivers wages certainty for Queensland firies
- The Crisafulli Government secures in-principle enterprise agreement for the Queensland Fire Department.
- Includes allowances for remote and regional work and increased risks faced from electrical vehicle and home battery fires.
- Includes response time review to investigate ways to reduce response times, improving firefighter and community safety.
- The Crisafulli Government remains at the table and ready to negotiate with other key public workforces.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering for frontline workers by finalising an enterprise agreement with the Queensland Fire Department that puts firies and community safety first.
The in-principle agreement, in line with the Government wages policy, was struck in partnership with the Queensland Professional Firefighters Union, Together Union, Senior Officers Union and the Queensland Fire Department.
The agreement restores the overtime meal allowance - which firefighters lost under Labor - and additional allowances for officers relocating and working in remote and regional locations.
It will also include an increase to the operational adjustment allowance, acknowledging the increased risk firefighters face due to the rise of electrical vehicle and home battery fires.
The deal follows the Crisafulli Government's 2025-26 Budget delivering more than $74 million for new or replacement fire stations and land acquisitions, and more the $50 million for new or replacement vehicles.
Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said the agreement reaffirmed the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to backing Queensland’s frontline heroes with the resources and compensation they deserved.
“After a decade of neglect under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is finally delivering the respect, conditions and resources our firies deserve,” Minister Leahy said.
“From bushfires to swift water rescue, our brave men and women on the frontline go above and beyond every day and this agreement reflects their hard work.
“These were fair and respectful negotiations that recognise the incredible service our firefighters provide each day.
“For too long, Labor shunned the people who protect us, but this Government is backing Queensland’s frontline heroes, with real funding, new resources, and a newfound respect.
“The Crisafulli Government is restoring pride, purpose and proper support for our frontline heroes.”
The in-principle agreement will be voted on by members of the Queensland Professional Firefighters Union, Together Union and Senior Officers Union.
