Industry invited to help map Queensland’s next wave of resources investment

  • Crisafulli Government seeks industry input on the next tranche of resources exploration in Queensland.
  • Expression of Interest process launched to identify areas with resources development interest and potential.
  • The Expressions of Interest process follows the opening up of new tenures for gas exploration earlier this year.

The Crisafulli Government will accelerate the next tranche of resources investment with a targeted Expression of Interest process.

The process will ask companies to nominate land for resources exploration in infill areas adjacent to existing coal and gas tenures.

The process is also open to companies to express an interest in exploring an area with an identified vanadium resource near Julia Creek in North-West Queensland.

The Crisafulli Government is serious about growing resources investment to deliver economic benefits and restore confidence after Labor’s anti-gas and coal policies sent investment off a cliff.

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last said the Crisafulli Government was committed to attracting new investment in Queensland’s resources.

“Maintaining a strong pipeline of exploration protects the future of Queensland’s resources sector, which returns billions of dollars to Queenslanders," Minister Last said.

“We’re asking industry to tell us where they are interested in exploring, which will inform our decisions over future land exploration releases.

“This EOI is our next step towards unlocking new resources supply and follows our well-received gas exploration release earlier this year.

“Industry told us it needed certainty and confidence to keep investing in Queensland to create local jobs, and we’re delivering just that.”
