Queensland producers receive recovery grant boost after Tropical Cyclone Alfred

Emergency Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants for primary producers affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred will increase from up to $25,000 to up to $75,000.

Primary producers will now be able to recover faster and build stronger, more resilient operations.

The Crisafulli Government has listened to primary producers impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred and worked with the Federal Government to increase financial support with Emergency Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants rising from up to $25,000 to up to $75,000.

Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments - under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements - the increased grant amount will support primary producers to recover faster and build stronger, more resilient operations in the aftermath of the disaster.

Eligible producers can use the increased grant funding for essential recovery activities, including rebuilding infrastructure, replanting crops, and replacing damaged equipment.

Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said that this increase has emphasised the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to helping producers recover and rebuild after the disaster.

"We have heard the concerns of our primary producers loud and clear," Minister Perrett said.

"The destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been immense, so we have listened to the producers telling us the damages to infrastructure, equipment and crops.

"That’s why we are increasing the grant cap to $75,000 to provide the resources required to recover faster and more efficiently.

"We want producers impacted to return to productivity and profitability as soon as possible and we will support them every step of the way.”

EastAusmilk President Joe Bradley said the announcement was a critical step in helping producers rebuild and return to productivity.

"Our members had identified the need for additional financial help. The grant increase will allow them to prioritise repairs without further production losses," Mr Bradley said.
