Residential Activation Fund to unlock 440 new homes on Fraser Coast
- Fraser Coast to benefit from round one of the Residential Activation Fund, which was doubled to $1 billion in State Budget.
- Residential Activation Fund to deliver $8.6 million towards construction upgrades for Scrub Hill Road and Hockley Lane, unlocking almost 440 homes and delivering critical trunk infrastructure.

The Crisafulli Government’s landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is delivering for the Fraser Coast by fully-funding two critical infrastructure projects that will unlock almost 440 homes in the region.
The Crisafulli Government has today announced funding under the Residential Activation Fund will support the construction of upgrades to Scrub Hill Road and Hockley Lane to unlock almost 440 new homes in the region.
The fund will deliver $7.15 million to fully-fund the construction upgrade of Scrub Hill Road in Dundowran which includes all associated infrastructure work.
This vital piece of trunk infrastructure will enable the development of 365 low-density residential lots over two housing estates – Sage Estate and Augustus/Oasis Estate.
The fund will also deliver $1.45 million to fully-fund the construction upgrade of Hockley Lane in Hervey Bay, another vital piece of trunk infrastructure that will deliver the immediate development of two shovel ready residential projects which will comprise of 73 two and three-bedroom apartments.
The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund has received 178 submissions – 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural and remote Queensland.
The Crisafulli Government’s 2025-26 Budget is delivering up to $1 billion for round one of the Residential Activation Fund, doubled from the original $500 million, in response to the overwhelming support and availability of shovel-ready projects.
Round one funding focuses on the construction of critical truck infrastructure needed such as water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and roads needed to unlock new residential developments and ease Labor’s Housing Crisis.
The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is a key pillar of the Crisafulli Government’s Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan and is breaking down the barriers for infill and greenfield developments.
The Fund will deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders and support one million new homes by 2044 with at least 50 per cent of the overall funding to be invested in regional and remote Queensland.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Residential Activation Fund was set to unlock thousands of new homes across Queensland.
“The Crisafulli Government is delivering on our election commitment to give more Queenslanders a place to call home by funding shovel-ready projects and critical trunk infrastructure including Scrub Hill Road and Hockley Lane projects,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“This will transform the housing landscape in regional Queensland and overcome the myriad of challenges faced by many Queenslanders under Labor’s Housing Crisis.
“This is just one way the Crisafulli Government is creating jobs, unlocking housing and ensuring that Queensland continues to grow ahead of 2032 and beyond.
“In the coming weeks I will be announcing further projects to be delivered through the Residential Activation Fund - helping more Queenslanders pursue their home ownership dreams.”
Member for Hervey Bay David Lee said this fully-funded trunk infrastructure would unlock hundreds of homes on the Fraser Coast.
“This is a huge win for the Fraser Coast, specifically Hervey Bay, with two critical infrastructure projects to be fully-funded by the Crisafulli Government,” Mr Lee said.
“The Crisafulli Government is backing regional Queensland by delivering on an election commit to unlock more homes and I’m proud to be apart of today’s announcement that will see legacy projects delivered on the Fraser Coast.”
Member for Maryborough John Barounis said the entire region would benefit from today’s announcement.
“For too long, previous governments had failed to fund critical housing projects in regional Queensland,” Mr Barounis said.
“Today’s RAF announcement will unlock much-needing housing on the Fraser Coast.”
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the funding would help deliver much-needed housing and infrastructure to keep pace with the region's rapid population growth.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Fraser Coast and a strong example of what can be achieved when different levels of government work together to respond to real housing needs,” Cr Seymour said.
“With more people choosing to call our region home, it’s vital we have the infrastructure in place to support that growth.
“The reconstruction of Scrub Hill Road and Hockley Lane will unlock close to 440 new homes, from family lots to high-density apartments, helping to ease housing pressures while creating local jobs during construction.
“We’re proud to partner with the Queensland Government through the Residential Activation Fund to deliver these key projects. This investment is not only about roads and pipes, it’s about building stronger, more connected communities for the future.”
