A fresh start for Brisbane and the Redlands in 2025–26 Budget
- Budget delivers the foundation for a fresh start for Brisbane and the Redlands with police station upgrades, hospital expansions and generational infrastructure.
- Budget funds a major upgrade to the Gympie Road and Beams Road intersection, to get busy Brisbane roads flowing again.
- Police facility upgrades, including in Boondall, Mt Gravatt and Ferny Grove, funded in Budget to help restore safety where you live.
- A $500,000 expansion for the CitySafe CCTV network across the inner-city suburbs, and new CCTV upgrades in suburbs like Mitchelton, Keperra and Alderley to make our community safer.
- The Hospital Rescue Plan will see a major expansions at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital and Redlands Hospital to restore health services for when you need them most.
- The 2032 Delivery Plan will deliver generational infrastructure and a plan for Queensland’s future.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Brisbane with major hospital expansions, road upgrades, community facilities and police facility upgrades.
Brisbane will also benefit from the Crisafulli Government’s $100 Back to School Boost, the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers Program, more frontline health workers, more police on the beat and new social and community housing.
2025-26 Budget lays the foundation for the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, addressing Labor’s youth crime, health, housing and cost of living crises.
The Budget focuses on making Queensland safer, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, driving down cost of living pressures for families, providing more free healthcare and building generational infrastructure for our growing State.
As part of the Hospital Rescue Plan, Brisbane and Redlands will benefit from:
- Princess Alexandra Hospital - expansion with a new acute service building above the existing emergency department with 249 beds, and more car parking spaces will be constructed for patients, carers, visitors and staff.
- Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital Expansion - 112 new beds and a multi-storey carpark.
- Prince Charles Hospital – at least 93 new beds, a new emergency department, paediatrics and operating theatre.
- Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital - refurbishment of Psychiatric Emergency Centre to enhance capacity and patient flow, and $48.7 million to replace equipment and carry out works at the hospital’s Sterile Supply Department.
Queensland Children’s Hospital - $10.7 million update the emergency and exit lighting in the Hospital Precinct.
The Budget will also deliver a major upgrade for the busy Gympie Road and Beams Road intersection in Carseldine, which carries more than 80,000 vehicles a day.
An investment of $156.7 million will expand and improve social and community housing across Brisbane, with 487 social homes in construction or under contract towards the delivery of 53,500 homes by 2044, including in partnership with the Australian Government.
Police facilities across the region will be upgraded with $30 million for Mount Gravatt, $52 million for Boondall, $7 million for Ferny Grove, and $50 million for an upgrade to the Oxley Police Academy.
Brisbane schools will be upgraded with $35 million to deliver additional classrooms at Buranda State School, $61.2 million to refurbish Red Hill Special School at Ithaca Campus, and $661,000 for upgrades at the Gumdale State School.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Budget delivered the foundation for a fresh start for Brisbane and the Redlands, just as promised.
“Today’s Budget delivers the fresh start Queensland needs and Queenslanders voted for, to address the crises in youth crime, health, housing and cost of living,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“We are delivering to restore safety where you live, health services when you need them, a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a plan for Queensland’s future.
“This Budget delivers cost of living relief with the $100 Back to School Boost and the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers Program, a fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan, a new nation-leading home ownership program to reduce the deposit gap, as well more police and early intervention to make Queensland safer.”
Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls said the Budget delivered for Brisbane.
“I am proud to be delivering on my commitment to support Brothers Rugby Club with a $6 million grant for a new and upgraded clubhouse and changing facilities, as well as improving public transport with funding for the Gold CityGlider service to Hamilton and subsequently to Northshore,” Mr Nicholls said.
Member for Chatsworth Steve Minnikin welcomed the Budget funding into school upgrades.
“I welcome the investment in education across the Chatsworth electorate, including a new Block A at Belmont State School, $661,000 to upgrade facilities at Gumdale State School and $15,000 for upgrades at my old school, Carina State School, while nearby Mayfield State School will receive funding to deliver a new acoustic wall in the undercover activity centre.”
Member for Moggill Dr Christian Rowan said that the Budget is delivering on the Government’s election commitments.
“Every election commitment for the electorate of Moggill is fully funded in this State Budget, including dedicated funding for a New Community and Neighbourhood Centre for the electorate of Moggill,” Dr Rowan said.
“I am delighted to be delivering vital funding to support out local sport environmental and community organisations.”
Member for Everton Tim Mander said that the Budget delivered for Everton.
“I’m pleased to say that all of our $250 million Games On! commitments are fully funded in the Queensland Budget, including, Mitchelton Football Club, Mitchelton Youth Club, and the Everton Park Roosters clubhouse,” Mr Mander said.
“Everton will also benefit from upgrades to Stafford Road and South Pine Road intersection, an improved drop-off pick-up area and car parks at Eatons Hill State School and McDowall State School upgrades to the Ferny Grove Police Station, and Dickson Men’s Shed and Stationery Aid will receive funding to build new facilities.”
Member for Oodgeroo Amanda Stoker said the Budget was delivering for the Redlands.
“We’re delivering the $150 million Redland Hospital expansion, including a mental health and allied health building,” Ms Stoker said.
Member for Redlands Rebecca Young said the Budget was delivering for the region.
“This Budget delivers parking relief for Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with a vehicle barge subsidy and more hospital beds and frontline workers for Redlands,” Ms Young said.
Member for Capalaba Russell Field said the Budget was delivering for the South East.
“We’re delivering safety where you live with stronger laws and better resourced police, as well as ensuring early intervention and rehabilitation to start to turn the tide on Labor’s Youth Crime Crisis,” Mr Field said.

- Anti-hooning measures - Delivering $2 million for a network of anti-hooning cameras across Rochedale South, Springwood, Daisy Hill, Shailer Park, Mount Cotton, Sheldon and Priestdale.
- Birkdale South State School - New amenities for the school.
- Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce - $24 million to continue the joint suppression taskforce, including in Redlands.
- Games On! Redlands Cricket Club - $1 million to deliver new women's changeroom and bathroom block.
- Games On! Wellington Point Bowls Club - $1 million to install shade and synthetic surfaces.
- Network Battery – Redlands - $13.5 million to install a 4MW/8MWHr capacity battery to store the excess solar PV.
- Ormiston State School - $73,000 for facility and musical instrument upgrades.
- Redland District Special School - Delivering additional learning spaces.
- Redland Hospital expansion (Stage 2) - $150 million to construct a new 43-bed Mental Health (20 new beds) and Allied Health building.
- Russell Island Centre of Excellence - $2 million to support a Marine Centre of Excellence for Southern Moreton Bay Islands in partnership with industry and TAFE Queensland.
- Southern Moreton Bay Islands Barge Subsidy - Parking relief for Southern Moreton Bay Island residents through a 50 per cent subsidy on vehicle barge travel.
- Top Blokes Early Intervention - $75,000 for the Top Blokes mentorship and well-being programs at the YMCA Vocational School in Victoria Point.
- Weinam Creek car park - New car park for commuters at Weinam Creek.
- Wildlife Hospital – $12 million for the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital, Redlands.
- Youth and community centre - $1 million to build a multi-purpose youth and community centre on Macleay Island.
- Zero Litter to the Bay by 2030 - $35 million to partner with local government to upgrade stormwater network infrastructure and prevent litter escaping into Moreton Bay by 2030.
