A fresh start for the Gold Coast in 2025-26 Budget

Budget delivers foundation for fresh start for the Gold Coast with investment in transport, community safety, health and economic growth projects.
Projects like a new Police Beat at Burleigh Heads and a Crime Prevention School to help make Queensland safer.
A new Coomera Hospital with at least 600 new overnight beds will restore health services for when you need them most.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering for the Gold Coast with investment in community safety, health services and economic growth projects across the city.

The Gold Coast will also benefit from the Queensland Government’s $100 Back to School Boost vouchers, the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers program, more frontline health workers, more police on the beat and new social and community housing.

The 2025-26 Budget lays the foundation for the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, addressing Labor’s youth crime, health, housing and cost of living crises.

The Budget focuses on making Queensland safer, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, driving down cost of living pressures for families, providing more free healthcare and building generational infrastructure for our growing State.

The Crisafulli Government is prioritising safety where you live through targeted investments into community safety and crime prevention on the Gold Coast, including the expansion of crime prevention school Men of Business.

A $1 million Local Liquor Accord will address alcohol-fuelled violence and anti-social behaviour in Burleigh Heads, complemented by a permanent Police Beat in the area. 

Legal support is being strengthened with $2 million for a new Gold Coast Community Legal Centre in Southport and $800,000 for My Community Legal to focus on domestic violence assistance.

The Numinbah Correctional Centre will also receive $17.9 million to enhance its infrastructure and security.

The Crisafulli Government’s record education spend statewide of $21.9 billion is funding all government schools across the Gold Coast.

State schools will be fully funded, 550 more teacher aides and support teachers will be employed across the state, and red tape for teachers will be reduced by 25 per cent.

Growth projects and school infrastructure upgrades on the Gold Coast will include new STEM facilities, hall air conditioning, shade sails, oval seating, car parking, and sports facilities.

Schools to benefit include Coomera Rivers State School, Tallebudgera State School, Park Lake State School, Helensvale State School and Upper Coomera State College.

A new special school in Coomera will also be delivered.

Infrastructure improvements include $1.5 million to raise the Austinville Causeway to improve flood immunity on the Gold Coast-Springbrook Road, and planning for the duplication of the Jabiru Island Bridge to improve connectivity.

The Budget provides $5.5 million to redevelop the Pimpama Ambulance Station and $8.9 million to relocate Child Youth Mental Health Services to enable Adult Community Health to expand.

Premier David Crisafulli said the Budget delivered the foundation for a fresh start for the Gold Coast, just as promised.

“Today’s Budget delivers the fresh start Queensland needs and Queenslanders voted for, to address the crises in youth crime, health, housing and cost of living,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“We are delivering to restore safety where you live, health services when you need them, a better lifestyle through a stronger economy and a plan for Queensland’s future.

“This Budget delivers cost of living relief with the $100 Back to School Boost and the $200 Play On! Sports Vouchers Program, a fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan, a new nation-leading home ownership program to reduce the deposit gap, as well more police and early intervention to make Queensland safer.”

Member for Burleigh Hermann Vorster said the Crisafulli Government was delivering for the Gold Coast.

“We are helping make Burleigh safer with a new permanent police presence, as well as delivering local cost of living relief by supporting Baby Give Back,” Mr Vorster said.

Member for Coomera Michael Crandon said the Crisafulli Government’s record $33.1 billion health budget would start delivering the Hospital Rescue Plan to restore health services when you needed them most.

“This will support major projects like the new Coomera Hospital featuring at least 600 overnight beds and new car parking spaces to improve accessibility for patients, carers, visitors, and staff,” Mr Crandon said.

“This will be supported by more frontline health workers across the Gold Coast to deliver easier access to health services.”

Member for Southport Rob Molhoek said the Budget was delivering health services when you need them.

“We’re delivering a $14 million investment for a new ambulance station at Southport East as part of a commitment to reducing ramping,” Mr Molhoek said.

Member for Mermaid Beach Ray Stevens said the Budget delivered safety where you live, with stronger laws and better resourcing for police and the courts.

“As well as restoring consequences for actions and ensuring early intervention and rehabilitation, we’re upgrading CCTV across the Gold Coast,” Mr Stevens said.

Member for Theodore Mark Boothman said the Crisafulli Government was delivering a plan for Queensland’s future, building roads and rail for a growing region.

“Over the next year, we’re investing $600 million into the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project to unlock faster rail and additional trains,” Mr Boothman said.

Member for Currumbin Laura Gerber said the Budget was delivering for the Southern Gold Coast.

“We’re delivering for the local community, with $2 million for the new Tallebudgera State School carpark, $800,000 for the Currumbin Eagles for new women’s changerooms, more funding for the Tugun Seahawks to improve their facilities, and funding to make Tugun Surf Club more accessible,” Ms Gerber said.

“We are also delivering $500,000 for a business case to build a state-of-the-art STEM Centre of Excellence for Elanora State High School, $2 million for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and new NPL lights for the Gold Coast United Football Club”.

Member for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langbroek said the Budget delivered for locals.

“From our youngest Queenslanders to our more senior residents, our Budget delivers for residents in Surfers Paradise,” Minister Langbroek said.

“After a decade of neglect, we’re putting the resources where they’re needed most.”

Member for Bonney Sam O’Connor said the Budget was delivering for the community.

“We’re expanding hospital power capacity, growing mental health services, supporting grassroots sport, and funding a new Men’s Shed,” Mr O’Connor said.

Member for Mudgeeraba Ros Bates said the Budget would help deliver a better lifestyle in her electorate.

“The Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre will see a new $3 million accessible and energy efficient 25 metre swimming pool, which I hope will inspire a generation of great swimmers from the area as we head towards the 2032 Olympic and Para Olympic Games,” Ms Bates said.

“I’m thrilled that the cost-of-living relief for primary school children and first home buyer help will also benefit people in my electorate.”
