The Honourable Tony Perrett

Primary industries blueprint enters next phase

  • Largest primary industries stakeholder engagement in a decade enters new phase.
  • Crisafulli Government working closely with industry on a prosperous way forward for Queensland’s primary industries.
  • Opportunities to play a significant role to set the future direction of primary industries and reach the Crisafulli Government’s goal of a $30 billion industry by 2030.

The Crisafulli Government is looking for Queenslanders who are keen to shape the future of primary industries across the State.

Expressions of interest are now open to shape the next critical stage of the Crisafulli Government’s 25-year blueprint “Prosper 2050” through the co-design of targeted five-year action plans.

Interested representatives of the primary industries sector have until 9 July 2025 to register to join three regional working groups representing Queensland's northern, central and southern regions.

The working groups will design local solutions that build on the State's strengths in producing premium, safe and sustainable produce while creating a more profitable, innovative and resilient industry.

Under Labor, Queensland’s primary industries were neglected, with the former government choosing to pile on more red and green tape rather than support the industry to prosper.

The Crisafulli Government is now conducting the largest industry stakeholder consultation in over a decade with more than 3,200 invested Queenslanders already contributing their ideas, insights and experiences since the start of the year.

Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the exceptional response to date had demonstrated the passion Queenslanders have for their food, fibre and foliage sectors.

"Queenslanders from across our agriculture, biosecurity, fisheries and forestry sectors have stepped up to help design this exciting blueprint," Minister Perrett said.

"We're taking the next step by establishing working groups to develop practical, regionally focused action plans that ensure a clear direction is set, so we can reverse the years of Labor neglect.

"This is exactly the kind of collaboration we need to deliver on our commitment to boost primary industries production output to $30 billion by 2030.

“Many of Queensland’s rural and regional communities have been built off the back of primary industries, so I encourage those interested in primary industries and their communities to express their interest to be involved in this important process.”
