The Crisafulli Government is delivering its open for business message to the United States, with a high-level trade mission to promote Queensland’s investment potential in infrastructure, defence industry and health and knowledge precincts.

Queensland Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie will also lead the Team Queensland delegation of 114 people at the BIO International Convention in Boston – the world’s largest biotechnology convention – to promote Queensland’s emerging biomedical sector.

The Deputy Premier will receive a briefing from the LA28 infrastructure delivery team and tour several major Olympic and Paralympic stadium and transport precincts, gaining insights into delivery models that drive lasting legacies for host cities.

He will also promote the Gabba Entertainment and Housing Precinct as a landmark global opportunity lead by the private sector, to unlock new opportunities for investment, innovation, and placemaking — delivering a lasting legacy well beyond the Games.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said Queensland was looking to showcase our great State to the world as the next host after LA 2028.

“LA’s experience as a two-time Olympic city and the next Games host offers valuable lessons as we plan for the 2032 Games,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing firsthand how international precincts deliver lasting legacies for their communities.”

“We will also meet with stakeholders to capitalise on the once-in-a-generation opportunity of the 2032 Games and transform Woolloongabba into a vibrant entertainment and housing precinct in the heart of our capital city."

While in Boston, the Deputy Premier will visit world leading centres for biotech research and innovation that have been transformed to a thriving global biotech hub.

“We want to position Queensland as the natural home for bio-med investment in the Asia-Pacific,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.

“Hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games gives Queensland a great platform to secure more investment for our State.

"Our State Development team are firmly focused on the key sectors of defence and biotechnologies, including biofuels and biomedicine which are at the forefront of our agenda.

"Bolstering capacity in our defence industry sector will secure a pipeline of new long-term jobs, with regional opportunities at the forefront.

“This mission is about bolstering our global reputation and building connections that deliver jobs, better health outcomes and long-term growth for all Queenslanders.”
