MEDIA STATEMENT: Charity support for vulnerable Queenslanders this Christmas

  • The Crisafulli Government donates $400,000 to Christmas charity appeals
  • The Smith Family, The Salvation Army, UnitingCare Community and St Vincent de Paul Society to receive $100,000 each
  • Donations to support vulnerable Queenslanders during the holiday season.

The Crisafulli Government has donated $400,000 to help charitable organisations support vulnerable Queenslanders this holiday season.

The Smith Family, The Salvation Army, UnitingCare Community and St Vincent de Paul Society will each receive $100,000 towards their respective Christmas appeals, funding crucial assistance for Queenslanders doing it tough.

The donations will go towards initiatives such as hampers for families struggling to afford meals, gifts for children and support in finding accommodation for people with nowhere to sleep.

Premier David Crisafulli said he hoped the donations would go a small way in helping Queenslanders feel valued in a time they need it most.

"Queenslanders – especially the most vulnerable in our community – have been hit hard by the cost-of-living crisis,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“Christmas is a time of giving back to the community, and we want to ensure that as many Queensland families have a roof over their head, food to eat, and hope for the future this holiday season.

“We are continuing to back these hardworking charities to deliver the vital support needed, and I want to personally thank all staff and volunteers who are generously giving their time and effort to care for others this Christmas.”
