Year 12 graduates across Queensland are celebrating today, after receiving their final results from the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA).
More than 55,000 students eagerly checked their grades this morning, with 95% of graduates achieving a QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) or a QCIA (Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement).
Thirty-eight students also received a QCE Achievement Award in the following categories:
- Distinguished Academic Achievers
- Outstanding Academic Achiever
- Highest Achievement by an Aboriginal Student or Torres Strait Islander Student
- Highest Achievement in the Humanities
- Highest Achievement in the Liberal Arts
- Highest Achievement in STEM
These awards recognise the exceptional academic achievements of the top performing 0.06% of Year 12 graduates in 2024.
Another 1678 students received Certificates of Academic Commendation for achieving an A grade in at least six General subjects and 720 students received Subject Achievement Commendations for the highest result in at least one General subject.
The Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek joined winners and their families at a celebratory event at Parliament House today.
Minister Langbroek said achieving the QCE is a significant qualification that will underpin students’ post-school success.
“Congratulations to all Year 12 graduates — you have worked hard, applied yourself and now the world is open to you in any way you’d like to tackle it,” Minister Langbroek said.
“Congratulations also to QCE award winners on their exceptional achievements. The talent of Queensland’s young people never ceases to amaze me.”
“The Crisafulli Government is committed to supporting our schools right across the state, to ensure students receive world-class education now and into the future.”
QCAA CEO Jacqueline Wilton said schooling in Queensland, through the QCE, caters for the interests, abilities and aspirations of all senior students through a diverse range of pathways.
"It also challenges students distinguished by their academic ability, work ethic and ambition," said Ms Wilton.
"I thank the principals and teachers who shaped the learning environments in which the Year 12 class of 2024 flourished."
The annual QCE Achievement Awards ceremony will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 15 February 2025.
The awards are sponsored by Griffith University, The University of Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland.
