$670,000 boost for women in male-dominated industries

• Grants totalling $670,000 will support 9 projects working with women to enter, remain, succeed, and lead in typically male-dominated industries.
• This is the first round of the Miles Government’s $2.8 million Women in Industry grants program.
• This new program forms part of the Miles Government’s more than $16 million Women Economic Security package.

The Miles Government today announced the nine projects to receive funding under the first round of the $2.8 million Women in Industry Grants program to support women to enter, succeed, and lead in male-dominated industries.

Improving women’s economic security is a priority for the Miles Government and we know that we will not close the gender pay gap unless we can support more women into male-dominated and in-demand industries like construction, energy, manufacturing, aviation, and agriculture.

The first round of this new Women in Industry grants program will support projects dedicated to:

• Increasing women’s leadership and improving culture in engineering
• Increasing awareness and encouraging participation of young women in energy and renewables sectors
• Mentoring for women and company level training to increase inclusion in construction.
• Mentoring, training to increase women’s leadership in energy, resource, and manufacturing industries.
• A champions of change program in aviation focusing on inclusion, equity, and diversity.
• Leadership and commercial training for women in agriculture and specifically in the sugar industry.

The grants are across two categories supporting longer term structural change projects designed to reduce barriers and increase inclusion, and smaller scale projects or events to support connection and awareness.
