A new era for jobs advocacy in Queensland’s energy sector

Queensland’s new Renewable Energy Jobs Advocate has today officially commenced his role working with regional communities.

Aaron Johnstone, who has spent nearly 30 years helping shape public policy and collaborating with industry, has today started as Queensland’s Renewable Energy Jobs Advocate, working to advise government on how to create new employment in the energy sector throughout the Sunshine State.

Mr Johnstone will work with regional communities and stakeholders, industry and First Nations peoples as Queensland continues its transformation into a renewable energy powerhouse.

His role will include providing strategic advice to Government and key stakeholders, engaging with key energy infrastructure proponents, and promoting new job opportunities in regional Queensland. Additionally, Mr Johnstone will advise on the benefits renewable energy projects can deliver, particularly for regional Queensland.

Mr. Johnstone has held roles with Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia, Australian Industry Group and is the founder of Interact Policy and Industry Solutions.

His appointment is a key commitment under the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
