Premier
The Honourable Steven Miles
- Miles Labor Government provides $5 million boost to community led prevention and intervention initiatives that put Queensland kids first.
- Grants between $500,000 and $1.5 million available, as expressions of interest open today.
- Major boost made possible by the government’s landmark Putting Queensland Kids First plan, pioneered by Premier Steven Miles.
Premier Steven Miles has announced a major boost to community-led early intervention and prevention initiatives – a signature policy under his landmark Putting Queensland Kids First plan.
The first $5 million round of the $15 million partnership fund has opened for expressions of interest today, for grants between $500,000 and $1.5 million.
This funding will be used to deliver prevention and early intervention initiatives in communities around the state, supporting vulnerable children and families. This could include support for pregnant people, newborns, infants and young children.
NGOs, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations, are eligible to apply to deliver these supports for children in partnership with local communities.
It’s expected that successful initiatives will contribute to children and families making positive shifts in one or more of the plan’s outcome areas, such as health, learning, safety and connection, housing, and empowerment of First Nations families.
This is a flagship initiative of Premier Steven Miles’ Putting Queensland Kids First plan and is aimed at delivering place-based and targeted interventions that respond to the unique needs of communities.
Further details on the Putting Queensland First Partnership Fund guidelines are available at https://www.qld.gov.au/about/putting-qld-kids-first/partnership-fund.
Expressions of Interest will be open until 25 October 2024.

“Or by providing in-place healthcare and family support to identify issues before kids start school.
“My plan is informed by the experts, advocates and Queensland families – it’s something I’m uniquely passionate about delivering.
“Because every Queensland kid deserves the best start in life, and this partnership fund will create opportunities to deliver the supports needed for kids and their families to thrive.
