Homes for Queenslanders: Investment Fund delivers more social, affordable Townsville homes

Six more homes for single-parent families will be built in Townsville through the Miles Government’s Housing Investment Fund.

Three affordable and three social housing apartments are under construction by local builder, Martin Locke Homes in Garbutt, 7 kilometres south-east of Townsville’s city centre, close to existing homes, schools and established shopping centre precincts.

When completed early next year, the apartments will provide fully accessible two-bedroom self-contained apartments with turfed open spaces to facilitate community building and social connection. 

The homes form part of the Miles Government’s Homes for Queenslanders plan to deliver one million more homes, and follows the government announcing in its Budget that it would deliver 600 more modular homes across the state.

Member for Townsville Scott Stewart said the project is at risk under the LNP and David Crisafulli who has outlined no vision other than to cut projects, jobs and essential services.
