The Deception Bay Road overpass across the Bruce Highway at Deception Bay is being named the ‘Dave Masters Memorial Bridge’, to honour the life of Senior Constable Masters who tragically lost his life while on duty near the interchange.
A committed Queensland Police Service officer who was dedicated to keeping our community safe, Dave’s life was cut short on 26 June 2021.
Dave's death serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers that police face in their everyday functions to serve and protect their communities, and of the bravery of our QPS personnel.
The signage featuring the bridge name has been placed at each end of the overpass on Deception Bay Road.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) hopes the signage will also act as a prompt for road safety for all motorists travelling on the overpass.
