The Premier today toured a new two-storey learning centre at Rockhampton Special School, delivered by the Miles Labor Government.

The learning centre includes six learning spaces, a life skills kitchen, a new manual arts building, collaboration spaces, a lift and amenities.

Construction began in 2023 and the centre is expected to be open to students progressively from later this year (2024).

It’s one of 20 major school upgrades being delivered across Central Queensland by the government as part of a record $20.9 billion education budget, to give the next generation the best start in life.

$1 billion of this will be dedicated to building better, more inclusive and accessible learning environments.

In Central Queensland, $90 million will be invested by the Miles Government to maintain, improve and upgrade schools across the region.
