The Big Red Car took a detour to Brisbane’s southside today, with The Wiggles visiting Carina C&K Kindy.

Winning a visit from the iconic children’s band through a competition run by the Electrical Safety Office, the kindy was chosen because of the positive energy of the kids and their active engagement with the safety messages from The Wiggles’ song Electricity.

Young entrant Millie, who submitted an entry for her Gin Gin Community Kindy also wowed the judges and received a video call from The Wiggles for her efforts.

The competition coincided with The Wiggles visiting Queensland for their scheduled concert tour. As part of the competition, 13 runners-up from Brisbane, Toowoomba, Yeppoon, and Hughenden received family passes to The Wiggles Big Show Tour, coming to Queensland later this year.

The Queensland Government first partnered with The Wiggles in 2022 to teach children about electrical safety, with the pair joining forces once again in 2023 to spread the free kindy message to Queensland families.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Industrial Relations, Grace Grace:

“We want Queensland children to understand the dangers of electricity and what better way to spread this message than through a Wiggles song?

“We were blown away by the number creative entries to this competition and it was fantastic to see educators right across the state using our educational resources to share important electrical safety messages.

“Thank you to all the families, educators and kindys who shared the competition with our state’s kids; and a big thank you to all the children who showed so much passion and interest in their submissions.

“We believe you are never too young to start learning and if we can stop just one of these electrical injuries in our most vulnerable age group, it is absolutely worth it.”
