Supreme Court appointment announced

Acting Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Dr Anthony Lynham has announced the appointment of a new Justice of the Queensland Supreme Court.

Dr Lynham has welcomed the appointment of Ms Susan Brown QC to the Supreme Court following the recommendation from Executive Council of Queensland.

Ms Brown’s appointment comes following the retirement of the Honourable Justice Peter Lyons AM.

Dr Lynham thanked Justice Lyons for his extensive judicial service to Queensland and congratulated Ms Brown on her new appointment.

“Ms Brown is a very experienced and highly respected legal practitioner.

“Her experience includes senior positions as a solicitor in Brisbane and London, before a successful and well-regarded career at the bar. 

“She is regarded as a leading advocate and mentor for the profession. 

“She also served the profession as Vice President of the Bar Association of Queensland and has acted in a wide range of matters including contractual disputes, trade practices, disputes to mining and property leases, construction matters, insolvency matters, native title and constitutional matters.

“I welcome Ms Brown on her appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland.”

Ms Brown’s appointment comes after consultation with heads of the jurisdiction and the recently established panel for judicial appointments.
