The Honourable Jackie Trad
Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Jackie Trad today announced the appointment of the Honourable Steve Bredhauer to the role of Chairman of Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ).
Ms Trad welcomed the appointment and congratulated Mr Bredhauer, who brings with him extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge in the trade and investment area.
“As the former Queensland Government Special Representative to China and Vietnam, Mr Bredhauer has led 14 trade missions to China, Vietnam and Mongolia in a variety of industry sectors, and has also worked with Queensland companies seeking to establish or expand their export business throughout these markets,” Ms Trad said.
“With experience in various sectors including mining, technology, infrastructure, green building and sustainable urban development, maritime, education and training, and agriculture, I believe Mr Bredhauer is an excellent choice to lead TIQ moving forward.
“Mr Bredhauer was also the Queensland Member for Cook from 1989 to 2004 and also Minister for Transport and Main Roads from 1998 to 2004.
“I have asked Mr Bredhauer as incoming Chair to immediately prioritise a whole of government trade and investment strategy to be delivered in the new year.
“It is important that the global promotion of Queensland’s industry capabilities is well targeted and Mr Bredhauer will help to achieve this. International education and training and other knowledge industries are a good example of the capabilities we need to promote more aggressively.”
Mr Bredhauer will also assist in stepping up the government’s coordinated effort to promote Queensland as the perfect destination for investment into both our traditional and, importantly, growing innovation sectors.
“I would like to personally thank former Chairman Mark Stockwell for his outstanding contribution in supporting the state’s trade and investment efforts,” Ms Trad said.
“Under Mr Stockwell’s stewardship, TIQ helped to promote better access to overseas markets and decision makers for Queensland companies.”
