Infrastructure to drive Queensland forward

Minister for Infrastructure Cameron Dick has today confirmed it was full steam ahead for the Queensland Government’s infrastructure program, despite COVID-19.

“Although COVID-19 has shut down parts of our economy, we can and will press ahead with our ambitious infrastructure program,” Mr Dick said.

“Our 2019 update of the State Infrastructure Plan set out a strong pipeline of capital works over four years, which our government is committed to delivering.

“Commencing from 1 April 2020, over the next six months more than 130 government projects are on track to commence construction, valued in excess of $3.8 billion.”

Mr Dick said the government is also working closely with the private sector to bring forward approvals and drive investment into major projects and development opportunities.

“The recently announced Arrow Energy $10 billion Surat gas project is an example of how the Palaszczuk Government is bringing forward private sector jobs, with more to come,” he said.

“I have tasked Queensland’s Coordinator-General to work with key executives from the infrastructure and property sector peak bodies, alongside other Directors-Generals as part of the new Infrastructure Industry Steering Committee.

“This committee is working together to prioritise and progress catalytic infrastructure projects and development opportunities.

“We will be making further announcements in the coming weeks to help support jobs, growth and confidence as we face COVID-19.”
