State funding helping Tennyson manufacturer signal their global intentions

Southside Brisbane telecommunications manufacturer EM Solutions will bring new technology equipment to Queensland and employ 14 new workers thanks to $463,425 from the Palaszczuk Government.

Member for Miller Mark Bailey said the $46 million Made in Queensland (MiQ) grants program gives the state’s manufacturers the leg-up they need to thrive.

“EM Solutions will invest their MiQ funding in advanced, highly specialised testing equipment not currently in Queensland,” Mr Bailey said.

“They’ll also introduce lean manufacturing techniques into their operations to boost their productivity in designing market-leading microwave, radio and satellite telecommunications products.

“The new equipment and manufacturing techniques will further bolster the company’s ability to compete globally, which will result in more jobs for locals here in Brisbane’s south.

“The Palaszczuk Government is invested in manufacturing in Queensland because we know how important the sector is when it comes to employment and our economy.”

EM Solutions CEO Rowan Gilmore said MiQ will help the company to continue to innovate, respond to market needs and increase manufacturing capacity.

“The MiQ funds will allow us to employ 14 high-skilled workers over five years, increase our international competitiveness and support our growth,” Dr Gilmore said.

Minister for Manufacturing Cameron Dick said MiQ is helping local manufacturers expand, upskill and employ.

“Since 2017 the Palaszczuk Government has supported around 75 projects across Queensland through MiQ,” Mr Dick said.

“The grants, which are matched by the manufacturers, will help create more than 930 new jobs over the next five years and are expected to generate approximately $92 million in private sector investment.”

Shortlisted applicants for MiQ Round 3 will be invited to submit detailed applications in November.
