The biggest names in Australian television have celebrated their night of nights on the Gold Coast as part of an event tipped to generate $40 million in publicity alone for Queensland.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the TV WEEK Logies provided the ideal platform to showcase Queensland’s film and television and tourism industries.

“My Government has a clear strategy, through Tourism and Events Queensland, to maximise every possible opportunity to leverage events hosted throughout the state,” she said.

“In the past three years we’ve doubled the value of Queensland’s events calendar, tipped to be worth $780 million to the state in 2018.

“My government continues to build on Queensland’s reputation as a world-class event host, particularly following the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“With over one million viewers, the TV WEEK Logies has again put Queensland in the spotlight.

“It’s wonderful to see so many of the stars of the Australian TV industry here being honoured tonight, and we look forward to welcoming them as more amazing content is produced here.”

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said Queensland had hosted the best Logies ever.

“We purposefully ensured footage of the Gold Coast’s biggest selling points were included in the 2018 Logies broadcast. This kind of exposure is particularly valuable for Queensland,” she said.

“We also saw plenty of high profile celebrities and industry representatives enjoying the best of the Gold Coast and sharing those experiences with their fans.

“And for the first time ever, we worked with the organisers to host two industry events to capitalise on the vast knowledge and skill of the industry professionals on the Gold Coast and create opportunities for locals to network with the best in the business.

“We’ll continue to work hard to leverage the success of the Logies to lure more visitors and market the Gold Coast as a destination for major events.

“I congratulate all of the winners from the evening and Gold Logie winner Grant Denyer”

Thomas Woodgate, TV WEEK Editor, says “an amazing night was had at the 2018 TV WEEK Logie Awards, held for the first time at The Star Gold Coast.

“Queensland is a powerhouse of Australia’s film and television industry and it was the perfect place for Australian television’s night of nights. Congratulations to all the winners and we hope everyone enjoyed their time on the Gold Coast”.

Nine Queensland and NBN Managing Director Kylie Blucher said: “Congratulations on behalf of everyone at Nine to all this year’s TV WEEK Logies winners.

“I am delighted the media and broadcast industry  have been so incredibly supportive with the move of the TV WEEK Logies to The Gold Coast.
