    New chair and council members for Energy and Water Ombudsman

    The Newman Government has announced a new Chair and members of the Advisory Council to the independent Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland.

    Minister for Energy and Water Supply Mark McArdle has appointed Julie-Anne Schafer as the new Chair of the Advisory Council.

    Ms Schafer is a solicitor, as well as a commissioner on the National Transport Commission and a board member of Queensland Rail and the Territory Insurance Office.

    Mr Michael Gordon is the owner-manager of Centenary Hire and is the new small business representative on the Advisory Council.

    Mr McArdle said several current members, Ian Jarratt (Queensland Consumers’ Association), Michael Swanston (Energex) and Kate Farrar (QEnergy) had been reappointed to the Advisory Council.

    “The Government welcomes the continued contribution of Mr Jarratt, Mr Swanston and Ms Farrar to the work of the Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland,” he said.

    Mr McArdle also thanked and acknowledged outgoing chair (Karen Chalmers-Scott) and the outgoing small business representative (Margaret Campbell-Ryder) for their five years’ service to the Energy and Water Ombudsman.
