Yarrabilba residents to benefit from statewide affordable housing program

Fourteen Yarrabilba families could be moving into new and affordable homes following the launch of an Urban Land Development Association affordable housing initiative today.

Local Government Minister Paul Lucas said the Urban Land Development Authority initiative, called My Place, had been developed across the ULDA’s seven residential projects.

Mr Lucas said that under the initiative, eligible households with combined incomes of between $60,000 and $105,000 would be able to enter a ballot to have first rights on purchasing one of fourteen affordable house and land packages at Yarrabilba.

He said the packages would range in price from $255,000 to $310,000.

“This is a great initiative and will help people like key workers and first home buyers get into the housing market,” Mr Lucas said.

“We know there is pressure on housing prices in the Yarrabilba area and this will help ease some of that pressure.

“Successful applicants should keep in mind that they may also be eligible for the $7,000 Queensland Government’s Building Boost and the $10,000 First Home Owner Grant.

“It’s about making sure everyone from nurses, teachers and police officers to retail workers can get a fair go and a helping hand into the property market.

“I’d certainly encourage anyone who was interested to get on the My Place website, look at the details and register their interest.”

Mr Lucas said more than 100 affordable house and land packages were being made available across the state and thanked Stockland, Lend Lease and PEET for supporting the initiative.

ULDA CEO Paul Eagles said that My Place complements the ULDA’s commitment to making housing more affordable and ensures that homes are available to the right people.

“This is not an opportunity for investors, My Place is strictly for owner-occupiers who are key workers within the community,” Mr Eagles said.

“In the My Place release, 14 villas priced from $255,000 to $310,000 will be on offer for key workers in Yarrabilba.

“It has been great to see this project receiving tremendous support from the developers and builder partners we are working with to help make this happen.

“It is intended that My Place will become a key fixture of the ULDA’s residential projects with a rolling program so prospective purchasers, who may not be ready in this release, can get ready and secure a home in subsequent releases.”

The My Place website is available at www.myplace.qld.gov.au to register interest for attendance at the information and expo nights programmed over December and January.
