    Finn pays tribute to Queensland’s ICT industry high achievers

    Information and Communication Technology Minister Simon Finn has paid tribute to Queensland’s ICT industry high achievers who were recognised overnight at the 2011 iAwards in Brisbane.

    “The iAwards are a great chance to acknowledge individuals who are innovating and contributing to the ICT industry, which is so critical to the State’s economy,” Mr Finn said.

    “These are the premier technology awards in the State, and this year’s winners have all made an enormous contribution to information and communication technology in Queensland.

    “I want to congratulate the winners on their awards and for their outstanding achievement.”

    Mr Finn said the individual category winners of the 2011Queensland iAwards are:

          ·CSC-Riverbed in the Communication category

          ·Transmax in the e-Government category

          ·The Australian e-Health Research Centre in the e-Health category

          ·The Australian e-Health Research Centre in the e-Inclusions and e-Community category

          ·The Australian e-Health Research Centre in the e-Learning category

          ·Suncorp in the e-Logistics and Supply Chain category

          ·Mincom in the Export Achievement category

          ·Auditflow Publishing in the Financial Industry Application category

          ·Blast Movement Technologies in the Industrial Application category

          ·ARCAA, Beoing Research and Technology Australia in the Research and Development category

          ·Data Master in the Security Application category

          ·Systar in the Sustainability and Green IT category

          ·Transmax in the Tools and Infrastructure category

    Mr Finn also presented Bevan Slattery from NEXTDC with the Queensland State Pearcey Award.

    “The Pearcey State Awards are aimed at encouraging and rewarding fresh and innovative talent in the ICT profession,” he said.

    “They recognise individuals who throughout the course of their career have ‘taken a risk and made a difference’ within the ICT industry.

    “Mr Slattery has an outstanding record in building successful Australian IT and telecommunication companies.

    “He’s an outstanding winner of the 2011 Queensland State Pearcey Award.”

    Mr Finn said the Queensland Government was committed to recruiting more ICT professionals to its ranks through a well-respected graduate program.

    “Our ICT graduate program welcomes the best and brightest ICT graduates to the industry each year, and so far 165 graduates have successfully completed the program,” he said.

    “We’re getting on with the job of delivering better ICT services, with a projected $1.6 billion investment in ICT across-government in 2011-12.”
