Attorney-General requests advice on possible Nuttall appeal

    Statement by Attorney-General Cameron Dick:

I have requested legal advice today about the prospects of success on an appeal against the sentence imposed on Gordon Nuttall on 16 December 2010.

Once I have received and considered that advice, I will then make a decision about whether to appeal the sentence.

I want to be sure that the sentence imposed adequately reflects the seriousness of the offences for which Mr Nuttall has been convicted.

I have to make a decision on any possible appeal within 28 days of the sentence being handed down.
