Sunday in Bundy sets new Community Cabinet record: Bligh

Sunday’s Bligh Government Community Cabinet forum in Bundaberg has set a new record with more than 190 formal deputations already confirmed.

Premier Anna Bligh; in Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone today on her Building for Jobs tour, said such a number of formal deputations on the one day is a clear reflection of Queenslanders continued keenness to meet with government.

“This is welcome. My Cabinet will meet Queenslanders on their turf and on their terms and they know it,” she said.

Other large Community Cabinets, Sunshine Coast (203 formal deputations in 2003) and Highfields (187 in 2009), had larger total deputation numbers, but these were two-day totals.

“190 formal deputations in the one afternoon – let alone the scores of informal meetings with my Ministers and department heads – means we are in for a busy time,” she said.

The last Community Cabinet in Bundaberg in February 2006 attracted 174 formal deputations.

Some ministers will be in the Bundaberg region on Saturday and all of the Cabinet will be at Sunday’s Forum at the Bundaberg North State School, Marks St, Bundaberg.

It starts at 1pm. The public is most welcome.

Cabinet formally meets in Bundaberg on Monday.
