The institute's photography teacher Doug Spowart was awarded the AIPP Queensland Landscape Photographer of the Year at the AIPP Professional Photography Awards held in Brisbane last month.

Training and Industrial Relations Minister Santo Santoro said Mr Spowart has won the award five times.

"To be awarded photographer of the year five times is a remarkable achievement which is a reflection of the quality of photographic training at the instituted," said Mr Santoro.

Mr Spowart received his award for his photographs of the Blue Mountains, Sydney Harbour Bridge, New South Wales Coast and the Devils Marbles.

Other winners include photography student Trevor Marsh who received a gold award for his dramatic portrait of the architecture at Toowoomba campus.

"The institute won a haul of 22 silver awards and 33 Certificates of Attainment from the entries of just 15 students and four teachers," said Mr Santoro.
