    Former Chief Judge Pat Shanahan

Former Chief Judge Pat Shanahan has advised Attorney-General Kerry Shine today that he would not serve on the review of the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions’ file on the Palm Island matter.

Mr Shine said former judge Shanahan had advised him today that:

“I have decided after an examination of all factors to inform you that I will not be proceeding with the review”.

Mr Shine said the Crown Solicitor has been asked to find a replacement for former judge Shanahan to undertake the review.

Brisbane criminal lawyer Peter Davis SC has been appointed to serve on the review.

The review will consider the ODPP’s file on the matter dealing with the death of Mulrunji on Palm Island in November 2004.

The review is expected to be completed in February next year.
