Public transport corridor information days to assist residents

Residents between Petrie and Kippa-Ring have been urged to attend community open days to obtain up-to-date information on a study to develop a public transport corridor for the area.

The Petrie to Kippa-Ring Corridor Study is investigating the development of a possible public transport route between Petrie and the peninsula.

Three potential corridor options through the Mango Hill area are currently open for public comment until 12 April 2000.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Steve Bredhauer said he hoped the four-hour public information displays would help locals better understand the Petrie to Kippa-Ring Corridor Study process and answer residents' questions about the proposed corridor options.

He urged residents and business people to take advantage of the open days.

The open days follow other consultation activities in recent months including public meetings and the distribution of an information newsletter.

Mr Bredhauer said representatives of Queensland Transport and study consultants GHD would be available to discuss the study process.

"The aim is to give people the chance to talk with the study team. The open day format allows the community to have the study explained to them in a simple format," he said.

"It provides an opportunity for residents to be involved in the study and have a say in it," Mr Bredhauer said.

Mr Bredhauer said key components under investigation include: - transport modes; - route and station locations; - future public transport usage; and - timing for construction.

The Information days will be held on:

Saturday 1 April, 10am to 2pm, Petrie School of Arts, Anzac Avenue, Petrie; and Thursday 6 April, 4pm to 8pm, Redcliffe Entertainment Centre, Oxley Avenue, Redcliffe.
