Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning
The Honourable Cameron Dick

With the development application lodged for the Oxley Priority Development Area (PDA), the master plan and stage one residential works are now open for public review and comment.

Member for Mount Ommaney Jess Pugh said the PDA master plan will ensure the delivery of a vibrant and sustainable addition to the community for generations to come.

“This development will transform an abandoned site into a hub for our community, with construction works expected to create 70 local jobs,” Ms Pugh said.

“It will feature 80 residential lots, 10 hectares of public open and green space, and a site for retirement and community facilities, as well as supporting the relocation of the Yuingi childcare centre.

“In total more than 50 per cent of the 19-hectare site will be public open space, taking in the hillside, recreation and bushland areas, and all 3.5 hectares of bushland will be preserved, along with a much loved and locally iconic eucalyptus tree.

“This was the result of a fantastic community campaign last year to ask the Lord Mayor to take the hillside land. I’m really happy that state and local government were able to work together and secure this outcome for the community.

“Once the development is complete, our government will plant over 600 new trees and more than 90,000 plant tube stock in road verges, recreation space corridors and the hillside area,” she said.

“This will be done in consultation with the site arborist and will ensure there’ll be no net loss of trees.”

PDAs are parcels of land identified for development that will deliver significant economic and social benefits to a community.

Once a PDA is declared, the Queensland Government works with council, the community and industry stakeholders to plan, assess and deliver projects in the area.

Ms Pugh said development of the underutilised site is a real win for the greater Oxley community.

“We’ve listened to residents throughout the entire planning process, and this feedback has played a significant role in informing the master plan,” she said.

“Publicly notifying the development application keeps the community involved and allows them another opportunity to comment on the future look and feel of their neighbourhood.

“I invite everyone in our community to view the development application and lodge a submission, to have their say on the future look and feel of our community.”

Submissions can be made between until Monday 11 May via:
