More police for Helidon

The number of Police officers at Helidon Police Station will double as the Queensland Police Service (QPS) boosts personnel.

This will increase the number of police officers at the station from two to four.

Minister for Police Mark Ryan said keeping Queenslanders safe was the Palaszczuk Government’s number one priority.

“Queensland has a world class Police Service, and I’m pleased Helidon will benefit from more hardworking police officers,” he said.

“We’re committed to delivering more police, with better resources, to keep local communities safe.”

Mr Ryan said the Helidon Police Station works closely with nearby police in Gatton and Laidley.

“The efforts of police in regional communities like Helidon are to be commended,” he said.

“When natural disasters impact a region like the Lockyer Valley, police are often the first responders.

“With additional personnel, Helidon’s police will be able to enhance public safety in the community.”

Mr Ryan said the Palaszczuk Government was on track to deliver an extra 535 police personnel to Queensland by the end of June 2022.

“There are more police in our state than ever before, and more on the way,” he said.

“We’re delivering on our commitment at the last election, and communities like Helidon are seeing the results.

“This is a big win for community safety in the Lockyer Valley.”
