Beechmont and Numinbah Valley state schools and the Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre will be closed tomorrow due to the ongoing bushfire emergency, Education Minister Grace Grace announced this evening.

“The Department of Education continues to work closely with emergency services authorities and it is on their advice that we have made the decision to keep these schools closed again tomorrow,” Ms Grace said.

“However, as we have seen in recent days, the situation can change quickly so it’s important that everybody tunes in to their local ABC radio service for updates on bushfires and follows all advice from emergency services in your area.”

Ms Grace said schools in and around Stanthorpe would be open tomorrow, as would the three schools on the Sunshine Coast that were closed today.

“Even if your school has re-opened, if you’re concerned about travelling to or from school in the current conditions, remember safety must come first,” she said.
