A new and permanent home for Yeronga Community Centre is a step closer with the development scheme approved for the Yeronga Priority Development Area (PDA).

Member for Miller Mark Bailey said the mixed-use precinct scheme would guide future development on the three-hectare site.

“This is the culmination of three years’ investigation, planning and public consultation to transform a derelict old site into a vibrant mixed-use precinct,” Mr Bailey said.

“It will see us deliver on our 2017 election commitment to relocate Yeronga Community Centre, while increasing the availability of high-quality residential property and creating more local business opportunities.

“The Palaszczuk Government is grateful for the feedback provided by the Yeronga community, who’ve collectively played a key role in the rejuvenation of this area.

“The scheme will act as a framework to turn this site into an integrated and inviting mixed-use community precinct.”

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the scheme will give Yeronga residents confidence about the scale and scope of future development on the site.

“The final development scheme provides planning guidance to transform the site into a predominantly residential community,” Mr Dick said.

“The diverse living options will be complemented with a neighbourhood retail precinct, connected by open space, which together will shape a great lifestyle for those living and working here in the future.”

Economic Development Queensland will partner with a private sector developer to deliver the precinct.

The successful development partner will be announced later this year.
