Upcoming recruit graduation celebrated at Commissioner’s Breakfast in Townsville

Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP today joined Commissioner Katarina Carroll for a celebratory breakfast to mark the graduation of a new intake of recruits.

Recruit Intake 40 had the opportunity to celebrate their pending induction at a traditional breakfast hosted by Commissioner Carroll in Townsville.

Minister Ryan said the breakfast provided a great opportunity for the recruits to get some career insights from those who had been in their shoes.

“These recruits have made it through a long haul of hard work and study,” Minister Ryan said.

“It was great to see both senior officers and recruits chatting over breakfast before the official ceremony of the day.

“It’s wonderful to imagine that some of these recruits could one day be sitting in on a future Commissioner’s Breakfast for recruit graduations as senior officers themselves.”

Commissioner Carroll formally welcomed all recruits and officers in attendance to the first Commissioner’s Breakfast she hosted in her new role as Commissioner.

A response to this welcome was presented by leadership award winner, Recruit Justin Paterson.

Over breakfast, the recruits were able to discuss their future careers with the large number of attending senior sworn officers.

Commissioner Carroll said she was glad to see so many new faces ready to begin their careers with the Queensland Police Service.

“It was fantastic to meet so many of the soon-to-be first year constables this morning and I’m glad to have been a part of the celebrations of their graduation,” Commissioner Carroll said.

“The graduating recruits I met this morning have done the hard yards and should be proud of their achievements so far.

“I look forward to seeing the recruits sworn in at the official induction ceremony later today.”
