Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Mark Bailey

Queensland’s popular Truckie Toolbox Talk is heading to the Gold Coast for the very first time on May 22 at the Coomera BP.

Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon said the Truckie Toolbox Talk is a great way to find out the latest when it comes to roads in Queensland and how transport staff can assist you in making sure you are safe on the roads.

“The Palaszczuk Government is delivering a record $21.7 billion in roads and transport infrastructure across Queensland over the next four years,” Mr Scanlon said.

“Transport staff and other industry representatives will be on-site between 7am and 4pm, where they will be able to answer any questions you may have about upcoming road projects, heavy vehicle industry and road safety requirements.

Other topics covered during the event include regulations, accreditations, permits, notices, dangerous goods, mass limits, route planning and fatigue management.

Ms Scanlon encouraged all truckies in the area to attend.

“Since the first talk in Gatton almost four years ago, the program has been a huge success with heavy vehicle drivers and the industry as a whole,” Ms Scanlon said.

“Over the next ten years, the volume of freight moving across Queensland will grow more than 20 per cent, and we want to make sure we’re supporting our heavy vehicles drivers.

“The toolbox talks are part of our ongoing commitment to the heavy vehicle industry, which includes the Queensland Freight Strategy, newly launched Heavy Vehicle Safety Action Plan and our RestSpace app.”

The ResSpace app allows truck drivers to plan and incorporate rest stops into their journey, so they can take a break, and check their vehicles and loads in a safe area. The app is available on Android and Apple devices.
