Maryborough’s economy is set for a boost following the sale of two lots within the Moonaboola Industrial Estate worth a total of $1.2 million.

Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders said the sale will lead to the creation of 13 new jobs and will support the growth of advanced manufacturing locally.

“The land sale to Bendpro will allow the business to expand its premises within the estate and grow from 27 to 40 employees within two years,” Mr Saunders said.

“This is a big step for the firm that will be moving from renting a premise to developing its own bespoke facility.

“Bendpro started in 1984 and have consistently invested in advanced technologies and developed hi-spec products to service the needs of a wide variety of businesses throughout Australia.

“This is a great local success story, and the new chapter being written with these expansion plans signals great things for our city.”

Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, Cameron Dick said Moonaboola Estate was well positioned for Bendpro and other local businesses.

“These developed lots are only 500 metres off the Bruce Highway and are less than 10 kms from rail and air services,” Mr Dick said.

“EDQ industrial precincts like Moonaboola are attractive for business, and securing sales like this is helping our government drive employment in Queensland.”

Bendpro General Manager Allen Ascough said the company had just reached a new milestone and will celebrate 35 years in business.

“The new expansion is a timely reflection of the business’ evolution,” Mr Ascough said.

“Since 1984 Bendpro has supported Australia’s industrial growth in areas such as agriculture, construction, defence, transport and water by providing the highest quality metal fabrication for key infrastructure assets and emerging Australian innovators.”

Moonaboola Industrial Estate is located on the Bruce Highway, 8.9 km from the Maryborough airport, 7.6 km from the rail line, and 7.3 km from the Central Business District.

Economic Development Queensland develops, sells and leases industrial land throughout Queensland to support business growth and industrial development.
