Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning
The Honourable Cameron Dick

Minister for State Development Cameron Dick travelled to Melbourne this week to continue the Palaszczuk Government ‘s industry attraction campaign to entice more companies to move their head offices, factories and service centres to Queensland.

Mr Dick said that attracting national and international businesses to Queensland would create more jobs in more industries across Queensland.

“Queenslanders already know we offer the best of everything.

“We have a strong and diverse economy, competitive property and business costs, an enviable lifestyle, world-class universities and close proximity to the Asia-Pacific.”

Mr Dick said the Palaszczuk Government had already attracted a range of different businesses to set up shop in Queensland, including the recently opened $30 million tap room and brewery by Scottish brewers BrewDog, their first investment in the Southern Hemisphere.

“BrewDog saw the potential in Queensland and as a result, we were able to secure this investment over New South Wales.

“Similarly, finance giant YOUI Insurance has established itself on the Sunshine Coast and Alliance Airlines is expanding in Rockhampton with a new hangar and more than 50 new jobs.

“Earlier this year, international legal group Ashurst opened a new office in Brisbane to house their international service centre and on the Gold Coast, leading global action and lifestyle company, Boardriders (formerly Quiksilver) has established its Asia-Pacific headquarters.

“We have a dedicated team within the Department of State Development who are focused exclusively on attracting businesses and investment to Queensland.

“This work is critical to diversifying and growing our economy, and to creating more jobs for Queenslanders.”
