Like one of Santa’s elves, you can spread some Christmas joy by buying from your local Queensland small businesses this holiday season.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman is urging Queenslanders to Go Local this Christmas and take advantage of the wonderful produce, gifts and experiences on offer from home-grown local businesses.
“With Christmas just around the corner, we’re encouraging everyone to shop locally rather than heading online to shops located outside of the state,” Ms Fentiman said.
“Supporting Queensland small businesses drives the economy in our local communities and is a great way to wish these owners and their staff a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
“Backing our local businesses will support them to grow and create more local jobs.
“This message is especially important in regions recovering from floods or bushfires and those battling drought conditions.
“The Queensland Government’s Back on Track roadshow has toured north and far north Queensland to support small businesses impacted by the floods and encourage Queenslanders to buy from the bush to help revive regional economies.
“Booking your next holiday in Queensland is another great way to enjoy the fantastic and unique experiences our state offers while supporting towns and people who are working hard to get back to business as normal.
“I encourage everyone this Christmas to enjoy some Queensland fruit and veg from your local grocer, order your ham from the local butcher, buy from the bush when choosing presents and bring in the new year with a Queensland craft beer.
“This is a special time of year for everyone and spending a few more dollars with a local small business can set them up for an enjoyable festive season and a brighter 2020.”
