The Honourable Shannon Fentiman

TAFE Queensland’s Mobile Trade Training Vehicles have come to Queensland Parliament today showcasing their flexible, mobile, world class training on offer across the state.

Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman said TAFE Queensland provide on-site training and assessment in workplaces throughout the state.

“No matter where you live in Queensland, TAFE can provide the best in training for our young apprentices,” Ms Fentiman said.

“Travelling more than 20,000km every year, these specialised Mobile Trade Training Vehicles are unique to TAFE Queensland and provide flexible and convenient training for young apprentices.

“Delivering training in automotive, construction, plumbing and heavy vehicle – these vehicles reach thousands of apprentices from hundreds of different employers each year.”

“TAFE Queensland have listened to industry and are working with them to provide the flexible training they need for their apprentices and trainees to ensure the industry can continue to grow.”

For example, TAFE Queensland deliver onsite training and assessment to civil construction students in regions such as Longreach, Rockhampton, Gympie and Toowoomba.

They also deliver workplace-based training and assessment in early childhood education and care in the Torres Strait.

Some other employers that benefit from the TAFE Queensland’s workplace training include Origin Energy, Regional Councils, Isuzu, Volvo and Star Entertainment group.

“TAFE Queensland vehicles provide flexible and mobile training to all regions, including training from eight of their specialised Mobile Trade Training Vehicles which are based in the south east,” Ms Fentiman said.

“We will be expanding these Mobile Trade Training Vehicles across the state.”

“I would encourage the 38,000 year 12 graduates who have just finished high school to consider the exciting careers an apprenticeship can lead to.

“We have free tafe for all year 12 graduates on offer, along with free apprenticeships for under 21s, with up to 172 qualifications on offer in the industries where we know there will be jobs.”

“TAFE Queensland are renowned for their world class training, adapting to new technologies and ensuring everyone in Queensland can access quality training.

“This is an innovative way that TAFE can ensure young Queenslanders can gain the best skills and training at an industry level.”
