Last days to have say on TSRC name

The final countdown is on to submit naming suggestion for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC) road and elements.   

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said more than 400 submissions have been received, with only two days remaining for further suggestions.  

“We’re delighted with the community’s enthusiasm to participate in the naming process for the largest infrastructure project in Australia,” Mr Bailey said. 

“We’re expecting many more nominations before submissions close tomorrow (Friday, 21 September). 

“The TSRC will leave a lasting legacy in the Lockyer Valley and Toowoomba, and it will be great to celebrate this with the community through the naming submission process.” 

Mr Bailey said the nominations had come in steadily with interest and input from the community, both local and state-wide. 

“So far, most of the received submissions have been for the road,” Mr Bailey said. 

“I would like to encourage everyone to jump online and submit their nominations for the viaduct and twin arch bridges. 

“Both structures have changed the shape of our landscape and are iconic features to have named after your suggestion. 

“I would also like to remind schools choosing to participate their nominations are due next Friday. 

“I understand there has been a range of names submitted that acknowledge the region’s history, landscape, tourism and people.

“I’m also aware we have received a few Rangey McRange Face and Roady McRoad Face submissions, which, I’m told, does not have the support of the Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor, Paul Antonio.

“Once closed the hard task will begin to review submissions individually and ensure they meet the set criteria before compiling a list for the committee to review.” 

School submissions will be accepted through the principal or principal’s representative.
