Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced she will bring her Cabinet to Toowoomba next month as part of the Governing from the Regions program.

The Premier said Governing from the Regions would be held in Toowoomba from Monday 24 September and would include meetings with local business leaders and members of the community.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for myself and my Ministers to speak directly to the people of Toowoomba and to share our vision for the future of jobs and growth in the Darling Downs region,” the Premier said.

“Toowoomba is Queensland’s largest inland city and is predicted to be among Australia’s fastest growing regional centres in the years ahead.

“So, the Garden City is an obvious choice to host Governing from the Regions, which not only broadens our understanding of local issues, but delivers genuine outcomes for our regional communities.

“This year we have successfully governed from Ipswich and Mackay and the Whitsundays, and we have not simply listened to the people’s suggestions – we have acted on them.

“I’m also delighted our visit to Toowoomba will coincide with one of Queensland’s most iconic events, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, which was attended by more than 255,000 people last year.

“I know this event will inspire us to continue to work with the Toowoomba community, sowing the seeds of future prosperity for this regional heartland,” the Premier said.

Governing from the Regions has been held in a number of regional centres in recent years, including Wide Bay, Gold Coast, Cairns and Rockhampton.
