Mander says federal cuts are ‘reasonable’

The LNP must clarify their policy to "review" vital services for Queensland, Acting Treasurer Steven Miles said today.

Mr Miles said comments made by Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mander that services or national partnership agreements should be "reviewed" was code for cuts.

“These are services which help fund health care, dental care, TAFE training for our young people, remote indigenous housing and more,” Mr Miles said.

“And it looks like Tim Mander is happy for Canberra to cut those vital services.

“The Premier made it clear today that we want to see the modelling Malcolm Turnbull is using.

“We want to see where Malcolm Turnbull is finding hundreds of millions of dollars to make up for cuts in the GST he has announced for Queensland.

“But the LNP seem happy to accept any cuts as ‘reasonable’ and refuse to place Malcolm Turnbull under any scrutiny.

“Deb Frecklington needs to join with us in calling for certainty from Malcolm Turnbull and demanding he provides Queensland Treasury with the modelling.

“The Opposition Leader’s speech at the LNP State Conference this weekend would be a great place for her to do that.

“We’ve seen cuts under the LNP once before. Queenslanders don’t want to see them again.”

    Deputy Opposition Leader Tim Mander:

"Those grants that have a term, it's more than reasonable that those things are reviewed."
