Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Mark Bailey

The new $2.1 million boat ramp and car park at Bullock Point is now open for public use.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the new ramp responded to increased demand from boaties in the Rainbow Beach/Inskip area.

“Queensland company Pensar Pty Ltd worked extremely well with the local barge operator to ensure their processes were not impacted greatly during the works,” Minister Bailey said.

“Local boaties have been patient as the ramp was closed during the upgrade but I am sure they will agree the new facilities are a big improvement.

“The new floating walkway will reduce congestion at the ramp and assist with boat launching and retrieval activities, especially at busy times. It will also improve access for pedestrians,’’ he said.

The project included demolition of the old boat ramp and construction of a new three-lane ramp including a floating walkway, together with a purpose-built asphalt surfaced car park with formalised angle car-trailer parking.

The car park works have been jointly funded by the Palaszczuk Government’s Building our Regions Program and Gympie Regional Council.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Mick Curran said upgraded recreational areas encouraged more people to enjoy the outdoors.

“This will bring people together and help council support more active, connective and inclusive communities,” Cr Curran said.

“This project was a great collaboration between the Palaszczuk Government and council to improve the accessibility that boaties have to the waterways and offshore destinations near Bullock Point.’’
