Caboolture crossroads scores major revamp

The Palaszczuk Government has announced the first intersection to receive a major upgrade as part of safety works worth $28.8 million for Caboolture and Morayfield.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the intersection of Industry Drive and Old Gympie Road, on Beerburrum Road, would be the first upgraded, with work taking place this year.

“Wider lanes and lane separation will improve safety for turning vehicles at this busy intersection,” Mr Bailey said.

“This junction is adjacent to the Beerburrum Rd/Pumicestone Rd intersection, where a major upgrade is currently underway.

“When work is complete, traffic flow and pedestrian safety will be greatly improved, especially in the morning and afternoon peaks."

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said design was underway for a further seven of the seventeen locations along Morayfield and Beerburrum Roads, as part of the $28.8 million Palaszczuk Government works package.

“These two busy roads are the spine of the community here in Caboolture and Morayfield,” he said.

“As we know, the less time you spend sitting in traffic the more time you have to spend at home, or out with family and friends.

“So these road and intersection improvements will make a real difference to people’s lives here in our local area.

“Works at the locations we have chosen will include a combination of line marking, new traffic signals, changes to existing signals, pedestrian facilities, removal of hazards, road widening, and new signs.”

Design is progressing for the following locations:

Morayfield Road

•           Aquatic Drive to Paradise Road

•           Paradise Road to Graham Road

•           Lindsay Road to Oakey Flat Road

•           Caboolture River Road to Oaklands Street

•           Elliot Street and Esme Avenue intersection.

Beerburrum Road

•           King Street to McKean Street

•           Industry Drive and Old Gympie Road intersection.

The Morayfield Road-Beerburrum Road safety improvements project will be delivered as part of the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety (TRS) Program.

Design and construction will be completed in stages, and feedback will be sought from local stakeholders, on the proposed safety improvements as they are developed.
