New District Court Judge for Maroochydore

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath has announced the new judge to be based at Maroochydore District Court.

Glen Cash QC will take up his appointment on July 2.

“Glen Cash is a highly regarded and experienced prosecutor who has been involved in some of this state’s most high-profile murder cases,” Mrs D’Ath said.

"I thank him for more than 25 years’ service with the ODPP and welcome him to this new appointment.

“He will be a great addition to our District Court,” she said.

Glen Cash QC has been employed in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Queensland since 1992, and has been a Crown Prosecutor since 2001, successfully prosecuting a series of murder, manslaughter, rape, drug trafficking and child sex offender cases.

He has also represented the Crown in many appeals against conviction and sentence.

Glen Cash QC worked on the Daniel Morcombe murder trial and in Brett Cowan’s subsequent unsuccessful attempts to appeal that sentence; he prosecuted Andrew Michael Burke for the murder of pregnant woman Joan Ryther in Logan in 2013; and ran the successful murder case against Steven Fennell for the murder of 85-year-old Liselotte Watson on Macleay Island in 2012.

He completed his Bachelor of Laws at QUT in 1992 and was admitted as a Barrister of the Supreme Court in 1999.  He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2015.
